k. The Smith Park Advisory Council in collaboration with the American Legion, Paul Revere Post # 623 have been lobbying our Alderman, Roberto Maldonado, 26th Ward in supporting the refurbishing of the World War II, (WW II) tank and artillery cannon at Smith Park.
The alderman informed us, not only does he support the refurbishing of the WW II tank and cannon, but he is also one of the major sponsors in supporting the Veterans Housing in the 26th Ward. American Legion Post # 623 Outgoing Commander Byron Watson and Commander Pete Kalenik are happy to report that Alderman Maldonado has committed $40,000.00 for the refurbishing of this project at Smith Park. Alderman Maldonado presented a check to the members of the American Legion, Paul Revere Post # 623 for $20,000 at Smith Park and a second check for $20,000.00 will come the following year. The American Legion Post will take the lead and work with our park supervisor Travis Bogle and the Chicago Park District, and request for Veteran workers to work on this assignment
Please take a second to send Alderman Maldonado an email at (email@example.com) to thank him for supporting the Veterans in Chicago, and for the financial support in the refurbishing of the monuments at Smith Park. (photos attached)
