Chicago Park District staff honored:
The Smith Park Advisory Council, (SPAC) which is made up of community residents throughout the City of Chicago work collaboratively with the Chicago Park District staff to bring in new programs and raise funds for the park. Smith Park staff were honored with an appreciation award presented by the advisory council.
SPAC voted unanimously to honor the Park District staff at Smith Park. This year, the entire Smith Park staff with presented with a appreciation award. David Ramos, president of the advisory council stated, the Park District staff goes above and beyond the call of duty each and everyday to ensure the park’s programs are running smoothly. On many occasions, the staff works overtime or volunteer their time to ensure the advisory councils sponsored programs go on without a hitch, said Ramos.
Honored today was Travis Bogle Park Supervisor, Frank Bogatitus Park Recreation Attendant, Stephanie Garland Art Instructor. Also pictured from the council was SPAC Treasurer Dave Hunt. I have been involved in the park advisory council for over 5 years and this was a great idea to show the park district staff that we appreciate everything they do for the park and the community, said Hunt.
The advisory council sponsors Movies in the Park, Star Gazing, Bond Fire Sing Alongs, Appreciation Day celebration, Circus in the Park, Easter Egg Hunt, Clean & Green, Earth Day, and a Halloween Spooky Skating Party. The advisory council is always looking for new volunteers to assist with sponsored programs and help bring in new ideas to support the Chicago Park District.
