Smith Park Chicago: The Smith Park Advisory Council, (SPAC) works on behalf of the community in collaboration with the Chicago Park District.
The advisory council is a volunteer group of committed parents and friends of the Chicago Parks who meet on a regular basis to support their local parks.
The advisory councils promote ways for the community to better utilize the Chicago Park District’s programs and facilities; provide communication to the residents in the community relating to their parks; increase community awareness of Chicago Park District projects; provide the community with information that can be shared; and assist in locating alternate funding sources to enhance park facilities.
In an effort to do these things, many councils host events and other related activities throughout the year, such as: Star Gazing, Movie’s in the Park, Concerts, and baseball/softball games.
The Chicago Park District seeks advisement from councils regarding services provided to parks, needs, problems, accomplishments, and any other matters councils consider important to the operation of their parks.
The advisory council is made up of a president, vice president, treasurer and secretary. SPAC Treasurer is Mr. Dave Hunt. Dave is the one who manages the funding, organizes the accounts for donations and helps strategize on ideas to bring in resources and programs to Smith Park.
Dave Hunt has served on the advisory council for the past 5 years and had served as Treasurer under the previous president Mr. Eric Muellner.
SPAC president David Ramos stated, Dave is a great treasurer, he is very reasonable with the check book and understands the needs for Smith Park. Dave Hunts family and children utilizes all the many activities that Smith Park has to offer and his heart is on the right place. It is a joy to work with Dave Hunt on the advisory council, said Ramos.
