Smith Park welcomes the Easter Egg Hunt to the park.
The Smith Park Advisory Council, (SPAC) once again sponsored this year’s Easter Egg Hunt at the park.
Many families from the West Town/Ukrainian Community come out every year with their children and family to enjoy the traditional Easter Egg Hunt at Smith.
This year, the weather was beautiful and the sun was shinning on the park, said Frank Bogatitus, Chicago Park District attendant. SPAC who is the financial arm, also helps the park with programming the yearly events at the park, once again sponsored the Easter Egg Hunt by purchasing over 1000 Easter Eggs for the children.
SPAC past president Mr. Erich Muellner, who has been playing the Easter Bunny for the past several years, stated he is delighted to participate as the Easter Bunny. It is nice to see the families and children come to the park and watch the children run rampantly searching for eggs, said Muellner.
Erich has been volunteering at the park for over 10 years. His family moved in the West Town/Ukrainian Community over a decade ago. He and his wife have enjoyed the park were they both watched their children learn to ride a bike and roller skate by using the park.
Mr. Robert Blackmon and his son Jeremiah Pasaye are one of many families who participated in the Easter Egg Hunt. Mr. Blackmon stated he and his son were searching different park’s using the “My Chicago Park’s App” and saw Smith Park Easter Egg Hunt. He stated he enjoys visiting Smith and he has been to the Midnight Circus in the Park and the parks outdoor Movie’s in the Park. Mr. Blackmon stated his son Jeremiah is becoming very familiar with Smith and he enjoys playing in the Children’s park.
