Smith Park Chicago: Members of the community enjoy the Super Moon with a Bonfire at Smith Park.
The Chicago Park District, (CPD) in collaboration with Wax Long and the Advisory Council enjoyed a Bonfire under the Super Moon this past Monday.
Wax Long invited local residents to share personal tales, found folklore or performances that coincide with the symbolic themes of the full moon while roasting marsh mellows.
Travis Bogle, Park Supervisor stated he works with the advisory council on ways to bring new activities to the park. Wax Long has been working with CPD for a few years now, the last time they came to Smith Park was during the Star Gazing Night.
Nicholas Ramos, a life long member of Smith Park, stated he has enjoyed the many free activities the park has put on over the years. Growing up at the Park playing Tee-Ball, now an adult, brings back great childhood memories.
I’ve been away from Chicago for the past 4 years, living in Columbia, Missouri studying at the University of Missouri for my under grad degree, it is nice to see all these new activities and events the advisory council and the Park District has put together for the community.
Anyone interested in getting involved in the advisory council should contact president Ramos or reach out to any members of advisory council. It has been a great partnership for me to work with such a dedicated team, said Bogle.
