West Town Dog Parade, the Smith Park Advisory Council (SPAC), in conjunction with the West Town Chamber of Commerce, Aldermen Proco “Joe” Moreno 1st Ward, Brian Hopkins 2nd Ward, Roberto Maldonado 26th Ward and Walter Burnett, Jr. 27th Ward, City Clerk Anna Valencia and the Chicago Animal Care & Control will host the 1st Annual West Town Dog Parade on Saturday, July 29, 2017.
The parade line up will be at 1800 W. Rice Street, in front of Commercial Park. The parade will travel from Commercial Park on Chicago Avenue to Campbell Street then to Smith Park. The line-up for the event begins at is at 9 a.m. and the kick-off is at 10 a.m. The Grand Marshalls for the parade our community elected officials.
The parade will end at Smith Park, where there will be various representatives from our supporters at the event: the City’s Animal Care & Control, PAWS and the Anti Cruelty Society. They will have tables set up and have loads of information for everyone. In addition, we will have a Best Dressed Dog Contest, so have your buddy ready to win a prize.
All dogs participating in this parade are required to have a current City of Chicago Dog License Registration number and an updated Vaccination number. All dogs are required to be on a leash throughout the entire event and they must pick up after their dogs. To participate in the parade and to receive a parade number, please complete the attached registration form Dog Parade Registration Form – 05.17.2017 and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Failure to complete the registration form will result in not receiving a parade line up number and render your pet ineligible.
If you do not have a dog license number, you may purchase one by clicking on the link below. Once you completed the on-line application the City Clerk’s office will mail you your tag number.
